The renovation of this home included the kitchen, living room, and laundry room. The goal was to open the spaces and space plan for a more useable, functional and aesthetically pleasing home to meet the clients needs and desires.
This included a major demo of both the living room and kitchen.
The kitchen was gutted and appliance locations moved. The slide in range was replaced with a cook top with pot drawers below. A custom design hood was installed in place of a vent less microwave over the range. Custom cabinets incorporated the new oven/microwave and warming drawer in a wall unit. The refrigerator location was moved from the entry of the kitchen to the opposite side of the kitchen on the sink wall.
Structural changes were made tearing out the wall between the kitchen and living room and creating an open counter height bar between the rooms. A custom Pantry was designed and installed next to the renovated laundry room.
The tight dining table area reclaimed space adding a window bench with storage below.
Light color granite counter tops were installed and the contrast between the dark vinyl wood plank floors and the white cabinets opened the space and maintained the warmth the client desired.
In the living room the heavy brick fireplace and structural walls were removed and an additional 6 feet added to the space. The new massive window wall allowed natural light into the space and the addition adds to the function of the home. The vaulted ceiling faux beams and popcorn texture were removed . The ceiling fan was taken out and specialty recessed LED cans designed for vaulted ceilings installed. A custom media wall was designed at the end of the space to accommodate audio/visual equipment and printers/shredders.
The flooring was replaced with commercial grade vinyl wood planks with a core backing which helps with acoustics and comfort.
The laundry room was reclaimed with custom made functional cabinets designed to store household supplies and a standing freezer.
